DOC supports a number of events to help people learn about and experience conservation in New Zealand.
DOC’s Arbor Day activities focus on ecological restoration projects using native plants to restore habitats that have been damaged or destroyed by humans or invasive pests and weeds.
Conservation Week gives all New Zealanders the chance to get active in conservation.
In addition to national events such as Conservation Week, Arbor Day and Seaweek, you can take part in the regional events organised by individual conservancies.
Held in early March each year, Seaweek is a national celebration of our marine environment.
This day creates awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action. The theme for 2009 is 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'.
World Wetlands Day is held on 2 February each year to commemorate the signing of the Convention on Wetlands in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971.
