Waikuku Stream, Te Kauri Park Circuit
Walk

From the carpark at Te Kauri Lodge, carefully cross the road, SH31, to the Manuka Track and descend down track and steps to the swingbridge. Then take the Waikuku Track alongside the attractive Waikuku Stream to the wooden bridge and follow signs for the Sheep track. (Just before the bridge there is a junction with a track that leads to a picnic and campsite.) The Sheep track climbs steeply up many steps to an open area with good views of Kawhia and Pirongia. It then leads back around a fence to the Lodge carpark.

Note: When parking, please do not block the farm access road.

There are a number of other short walks and days walks in this reserve.

Getting there

The track is accessed off SH31.

Plan and prepare

Before you go into the outdoors, tell someone your plans and leave a date to raise the alarm if you haven't returned. To do this, use the New Zealand Outdoors Intentions process on the AdventureSmart website. It is endorsed by New Zealand's search and rescue agencies and provides three simple options to tell someone you trust the details about your trip.

Please note: Dogs are prohibited on all Waikato area tracks except for certified guide dogs and permitted hunting dogs.
